The Story
Synopsis
Humanity stands on the brink of extinction.
Emerging from deep space, the Kronis invaded Earth. Bringing fear and devastation down on the planet and all its inhabitants.
Four months later, only small pockets of human resistance remain. Waging guerrilla warfare against this superior force. One such group is the 079th Armored Battalion. A once-powerful fighting force, now pushed to the breaking point.
But when the battered soldiers of the 079th are given a mission that can turn the tide, they become humankind’s only chance for survival.
T.I.A. (Tactical Infantry Armor)
A T.I.A. is an armored bipedal fighting vehicle used as a primary offensive weapon in front-line surface combat. T.I.A.s are versatile mobile weapon platforms whose main armament is a large-caliber rifle supplemented by machine guns and other ranged weapons.
Operation
The current configuration requires two soldiers to operate: a gunner and an operator. The gunner’s primary responsibility is to sight targets and fire the main rifle with precision and accuracy. The operator is in charge of the T.I.A.’s movement and strategic positioning. Both the gunner and operator are responsible for making minor repairs to the T.I.A. in the field.
Mechanics
The T.I.A.’s engine is powered by an electric generator, which is charged by a solar battery. The T.I.A.s are relatively new to modern warfare; they were successfully deployed for the first time during Operation Over Reach, where enemy forces were eliminated without a single casualty. This victory deemed the T.I.A. a dependable fighting machine.
The Characters
JACK REYNOLDS
2nd Lieutenant Jack Reynolds is a TIA Operator. Assigned to the 2nd Platoon, I Company, 079th Armored Battalion.
A rebellious and troublesome teenager. Jack enlisted in the armed forces at 19 years old. While away, Jack learned that his ex-girlfriend Nora was pregnant. The two reconnected during Nora’s pregnancy and decided to marry. Baby Emily took her 1st steps at their reception.
The couple had another child, Shane soon after.
Jack was with the 079th in New York City when the invasion began. In the months after, like many others forces in North America, his unit fought as guerrillas.
With the war bringing him close to home, he’s desperate to find out if his family is safe.
NORA
Nora Wythe grew up in the rough and industrial town of First Berth, NY. It was one of the many ship building towns sprouting up in North America as a result of the new age ‘Space Race’. Both of Nora’s parents worked at the shipyards. They taught Nora resilience and hard work from at an early age.
She met Jack Reynolds in high school. The two dated and broke up while she was in her 1st year at Lawson University, studying nursing.
Soon after their break up, Nora learned she was pregnant.
Nora decided she was going to raise the child whether Jack wanted to be in their lives or not. When he learned of the pregnancy, Jack went to Nora. Over time the two were able to reconnect.
Nora completed her nursing degree after Emily was born and took a job in First Berth.
Now married, the Jack and Nora share two children: Emily and Shane. The last time Nora saw Jack was days before the invasion.
MARY MURPHY
1st Lieutenant Mary Murphy is a TIA Operator. An aggressive soldier in combat. Her ability to improvise on the battlefield might be her best skill. She 1st saw action in the Mediterranean during Operation Over Reach.
It was during that conflict that she met documentary reporter Liam Stahl. During his time entrenched with the 079th the two developed a romance. They married soon after.
With the invasion looming, Liam was sent to space on assignment. Murphy, along with the rest of the 079th Battalion were deployed to New York City. She has had no contact with her husband since the invasion.
Murphy cares for the soldiers in her platoon. Having lost so many of her friends and comrades already, Murphy is anxious to take on her 1st command.
MUSA ADEL
Musa Adel migrated with his family from Egypt to Texas when he was 8 years old. From an early age, he became enamored with Infantry Armor. It was the latest innovation in military technology, yet untested in modern warfare. At age 22, Musa enlisted and began training on the 1st generation TIA models.
Adel immediately showed promise. Instructors pushed him to go into the Space Forces, but Musa had no interest in serving in space. He wanted to remain on Earth.
He got his wish and transferred to the 079th Armored Battalion. Days later, Adel first experienced combat in New York City during the invasion.
